I can't tell you what a joy it is to feel ready to be back at my keyboard typing up a blog! Although I tell you now I don't have much to show for such a long time away, but five weeks after stay in hospital with the procedure to give me a new aortic valve at last I feel my energy creeping back in - small doses but I can go with that, another few weeks and hopefully pretty much back to normal. I have two very strong new medications, one to keep my heart in a regular rhythm - which is unbelievable to not have beats coming one from the ventricle followed immediately with one from the other chamber and to not have the strength or breath to walk, the other to hopefully prevent clots forming. So at last I feel more like the real me again!!
Missing reading your posts has been awful but not the energy I'm afraid so blog reading is on for tomorrow - hoorayl
So I have just this week cut out a few pieces for Rhapsody by Anna Maria
not the best of photos I'm afraid - shaky hands, but below are a few of the pieces, the squares are for nine patch blocks, the urns will not have the black around them as once adhered the black will go and the urn just fused on to the back oblong piece, these will be machined around the edge just like my Kaffe Teapots - you can find them listed in the sidebar I think. I do wonder why I decided my first quilt making now would be a detailed effort rather than a four patch or something similar! Secret is to take my time.
Heres a look at some of the parts
sadly I haven't photographed in the best light.
I have a little gathering of scraps in a dish with a few ideas for a quilt so these will come in very handy with all my other scraps - of which I have far, far too many to use even if I should live to 100 years, which will definitely not happen.
When energy allowed me I wandered now and again into the garden, which is sadly overgrown because apart from my cardiac troubles my husband has been in such pain with his hip for quite a while and is now really very bad, he has surgery 9th December to have a new implant. Six weeks on crutches, heaps of "not to do" things so guess who has to get herself into full working order by then? Apparently I can have help through the hospital which will be great.
Garden news - again not much at all but one of my favourite roses, name forgotten
love the colour of this flower below I have a swathe of these growing underneath and in some places even through the base of the roses, great ground cover but once again forgotten the name
and my favourite, I have a clump of beautiful tall purple spires now with added buttercups but hey, I love the two little pops of bright sunny yellow in the greenery and the purple of the flowers.
All from me for today, time for a cuppa and as I had the energy to bake a tray of cranberry and apple muffins two days ago I'm off to heat one up and enjoy with butter!
Looking forward to getting back into the swing of things and catching up with my blogger friends.
Happy November and happy quilting and hugs to you all
Maureen

Glad you are healing well and are back to your sewing room. You've picked a great project to jump into.
I'm happy to see your post and hear your energy is coming back.
Such good news to know you are looking at a new pattern and sorting out more fabric. Slow and steady for sure but each day or week will show how much you have progressed. XXX
So great to see you back and posting, Maureen;))) Happy to hear that you are getting more and more energy to do things again!!
Take it easy and don't worry about answering all the blogs...

Hi Maureen! I'm glad to hear your health has improved, somewhat, since your surgery. I sure understand slow-going though, and with your husband's upcoming hip replacement, you'll both be on the mend for a bit It's nice to see your interest return to quiltmaking, though I am wondering at your project choice (as you are)! That looks pretty detailed and intense, though lovely. It's also nice to see your colorful flowers that have managed to thrive without your attention. Keep taking it slowly. Appreciate, and enjoy.
SO good to read your post today -- I'm thrilled that the heart procedure is allowing you to feel more like yourself! The new quilt project will be gorgeous! And rest assured, slow is perfectly okay - lots of us work in bursts with a tea break in between including yours truly.
It's so good to see a new post from you! I love the new quilt project, and I'll enjoy watching your progress. Your flowers are lovely, and it's wonderful that you have been able to enjoy a little stroll to see them. Best wishes with your continued recovery. I'm so glad you are going to have some help when your husband has his surgery.
Good to hear that the surgery was a success and your energy is starting to return!

Lovely surprise to see your post, Maureen. So glad you are feeling like tackling some sewing, enjoy the process, there's no rush or deadlines.
So glad to see you're back and happily sewing! Your fabrics are the best!
What great news, Maureen. And taking it slow is the way to go. I love the new project and the colors. Here's hoping your husband's surgery is also successful and you both get back to what passes as normal. As they say, getting old isn't for sissies.
