Hot Summer Nights and Days & Freshly Squeezed

Last post but one I showed a new quilt I'd begun using my
left over fabrics from Chinese Coins,
Raewyn at stitchingfarmgirl
said it reminded her of things sweet and sour and this gave me
the idea for the name
Freshly Squeezed - oranges, lemons, limes all in the mix

and this is the progress made so far, not much!

Due to pretty messy cardiac problems (in addition to other chronic health issues)
life has slowed down considerably for me, my quilting is
sadly missing out! I don't even have the energy to read blog posts sometimes
so I have lots of catching up to do, I'm hoping to do that after the evening meal
when the weather is a little cooler. The heat and humidity is making life
uncomfortable at the moment here in Auckland, difficult to sleep .
The sun is just baking the ground, roll on Autumn
as far as I"m concerned!

I've been photographing in the garden early in the morning,
here is a lovely rose

Brother Cadfael

sadly showing signs of black spot on the leaves.

Below is a black stemmed hydrangea, this is a new hybrid, I usually
stick to the old fashioned plants but loved the colour so it's now in
our side garden bed.

Three years ago I planted a few gladioli, sadly they haven't performed too
well for me and this year I was down to only two flowering.

We have a large Japanese Maple in the garden with my old lichen covered
garden bench right under the canopy, this has been the perfect place to
sit in the shade and relax and read Quiltfolk magazines accompanied
by my little follower

who prefers to be up high watching the birds!

A few bloggers wrote that they would interested on my thoughts
about the Quiltfolk magazine, this will have to be in my next post
as my concentration is not the best at the moment.

I'm hoping I can get back into regular blogging and more quilting again
pretty soon but until next time
Happy Quilting!

Oh, almost forgot I'm going to link with
Linda and Julie
for

hope you'll go and visit, lots to see.

Freshly Squeezed is a perfect name for that quilt. That gladioli is gorgeous, reminds me of coconut ice. Hope you are feeling better soon, lots of long cold drinks at present required. Thanks again for linking to Sew, Stitch, Snap, Share.

What a beautiful picture of Leila! And your freshly squeezed quilt is awesome. I think I'm going to have to put that on my to do list. Hope you begin to feel better because your quilts and garden are such a wonderful inspiration.

What a beauty and just the perfect name for it! It has the snap of all the fruity zest. I am keeping you in my prayers for healing and strength. Just take one day at a time, I remember being told to think in baby steps......and my steps are still small but moving along. You have additional things to deal with but the strongest muscle you have is the power of your mind. Stay strong warrior. Visit that beautiful garden and heal.

Hope it cools down for you soon and that you feel better, too..
Gorgeous rose--I would love to grow rose, but somehow I've never been able to (despite my name!!) so i do peonies instead... lovely tree to sit under and cool yourself..hugs, Julierose

So sorry to hear about your health issues, that's rotten luck. Sitting under a tree in the shade sounds good medicine to me. Love the new quilt, an excellent choice of name - Freshly Squeezed is perfect! Hope you have a Happy (and healthier) Christmas.

Really good name for this scrumptious quilt. I understand exactly how you feel health wise. As already said, one step at a time. Love your rose and gladdies. We planted some for the first time, but very late. Continue to pray for your health. Hugs.

Sorry to read you are not feeling well. Hope that changes soon for you.

I love your new quilt blocks. The colors really do remind me of citrus.

I hope things start to improve for you soon, Maureen. Freshly Squeezed is lovely but sitting under a tree with some magazines sounds pretty good too.

Wishing you better health and much strength. Enjoy those gorgeous flowers - and that glorious glad! (If you've only got two flowering, at least they're impressive!)

So sorry to hear of your health problems. Feeling ill in hot weather seems to make one feel worse. Your Fresh Squeezed is a great name. The colors make my mouth water.

Nice to hear I helped you choose a name for your quilt! I hope you got the same good showers that we did this afternoon - it's given us a nice soaking - you have some lovely plants in your garden so I hope they survive the summer :-) Sorry to hear about your health issues, and sending you very best wishes for some relief from them.
