More or less one month since my last post, I have been reading your posts now and again and sometimes was able to comment. I just haven't been in a position to write one myself! However I'm posting a photo of the first few large size Flying Geese in the quilt I began working on.
Those who have followed me for some time may remember I had a bad fall and shattered my left wrist a couple of years ago, in the process of that healing a tendon in my rotator cuff in the right arm tore. I'd been having balance problems and more for quite some time, (still ongoing) and I had been diagnosed with a neurological problem before the fall.
Problems have become worse, and on the 24th October, 2 days before my birthday, I had another bad fall in the garden, this as you can imagine really shakes a 78 year old quite badly. A & E, xrays - no actual breaks in my left shoulder , thank goodness. However now possibly tear in two tendons in the left rotator cuff, ultrasound Tuesday and I think then a neurology review appointment would possibly be the next step.
I am typing this slowly, my left arm is pretty useless at the moment and extremely painful meaning 4 or 5 hours sleep each night only even with pain meds.
Forgive my not leaving comments on your posts and also for many times not having the energy to sit and read them. You can imagine my sadness at my inability to continue on at the moment with my quilting. Hopefully I can gradually do a little at one time even if it's just one flying geese block! I will be in touch, hopefully, within the next two weeks - earlier if possible.
I have a photo of the first lily in flower out of a bouquet given by one of my sons on my birthday.
Take care and enjoy every moment of your quilting, I'll be back soon.
Maureen

I missed your birthday, and what a catastrophe for you!!! Those flying geese will have to wait, hope the ultrasound shows exactly what happened. none of us at our age need any more to happen. XXXX
I hope you have a quick recovery.
I hope you feel better soon. I'm sure you're in a lot of pain. Just do what you can and concentrate on healing!
Our older bodies don't recover as fast as our young bodies did. I hope you didn't do any serious damage to the shoulder.
You don't need to answer my comment. Blogger is playing tricks and all commenters even with email address enabled are forwarded as 'no-reply' to our emails, making it harder to reply to comments.
Sorry to hear about this Maureen, I do hope things improve very soon. Yes, the old a.g.e. problem catches up with us all in the end. Loving your design wall, the mix of colours looks great! Thinking of you x
Oh dear Maureen, I do hope you mend well and can get back to your sewing in a comfortable way very soon. Take care. (((Gentle Hugs))).
I'm so sorry to hear this Maureen! You sure know how to "celebrate" a birthday, don't you? Oh dear... no need to reply to that question! One-handed sewing; one handed typing... I can't imagine! Well, the quilt picture you shared at the top is just lovely. You're on the right track with that one. Now get that testing done, have your consult, and then proceed toward a fix for all this. Take care of yourself! I hope you find something to engage yourself with as you pass the time.
Oh Noooo Maureen!! I am so sorry that you've had another falling incident!! :(((( Gosh I hope that you can get a repair for it soon and that the recuperation period won't be too long.
My rotator injury left me unable to sleep too--where do you put your arm so that it doesn't hurt ??? I ended up using a pillow under my arm for a bit of relief...
the flying geese are really pretty--it is hard not to be able to continue working on a project when life interrupts!!!!
Best of luck winging its way to you....hugs, Julierose
So sorry to read about your fall. All of us after a certain age begin to fear a fall as much as some kind of illness since falls can lead to so many problems. I hope you and your specialist can come up with a treatment/recovery plan quickly so that you can get back to your normal life as soon as possible. This new quilt that you shared is really beautiful. I hope you can return to it soon. As others have said, please don't think that you need to respond to this comment. Good luck with everything!
Maureen, so sorry that the saga of your medical mishaps continues. Just when you think you're making some progress, another catastrophe occurs. Sending my best wishes and you needn't worry about replies. As Wanda said, Blogger has upended comments once again, so your lack of response will not be a problem. I really like the project on your design wall and hope you can get back to it soon.
Pat
