Long Time Gone!!!

My post heading is nothing to do with the pattern
from Jen Kingwell which I wrote about a while ago.
This is giving a nod to my not posting for over two weeks - again!!
Let's start with a sunrise yesterday.

The reason for my continued absence
was my husbands'  health
problem, thanks to a mosquito bite right on the elbow.
Won't give the gory details but after visits to emergency,
three days on IV antibiotics for huge infection and three weeks of oral,
the elbow is slowly getting back to normal after growing to the size
of a grapefruit!

So, quilting once again took a back seat but I had been playing
with Gypsy Wife - two different versions of one block, deciding which
one will fit in best

My Chinese Coins took a back seat, way behind now as this week
was the last week for a link up. Below is a mock up on my
design wall from before my husband became unwell

I'm just playing around and have quite a bit more stitching to take
care of, hopefully next post will show progress - fingers crossed.

I have lovely hibiscus flowering in the garden, two below, and Leila now a one year old
deciding whether to go up onto the roof  and watch the birds.

Back during the week - once again, fingers crossed!!
Enjoy the weekend.
I'm off over to visit Ann and Kaja
for a quick peek of my Chinese Coins so far.

Sorry about your husband. Glad he is feeling and doing better. Happy sewing!

What a scare! And I imagine he was almost helpless with not being able to use the arm much. When something like that happens, you don't want to ignore it. So glad you have helped nurse him back to health and can return to sewing more. I always love your fabric combinations. Forget deadlines, just sew and enjoy.

Oh you have had a time of it,Maureen! I know the feeling, I have been on pins and needles with my hubby's eye issues...hopefully on the mend now.
I LOVE your Chinese Coins done in angled strips--how creative! ;)))!
Your hibiscii?? (hibiscorum?? hahaha) are lovely...especially that first one--yummy colors. Hope all stays calm on the medical front for you guys...hugs, Julierose

Beautiful hibiscus, love those rich colours in your blocks, and Chinese coins on a slant and in slivers, great sewing. Mr H., hope you are well recovered, no more extra TLC, IV drips or hospital visits needed. Will phone you later this week Maureen . All OK here.

That must have been a scare to see his elbow grow that large. I'm glad he's on the road to recovery and that you are able to get back to sewing.

Glad to hear your DH is on the mend! Sounds scary, painful and not fun at all :(

I like the Gypsy Wife block with the yellow background. It has nice contrast to show that fun star better!

Your 'chinese coins' are looking interesting, don't worry about any deadlines, just enjoy! And I like both of your GW versions, that background fabric in #2 has always been one of my favourites!

Oh, my! Glad he's doing better.
I love your bright beautiful colors! Hopefully your life stays calm enough to sew.
And Leila is a beauty, too!

Oh I hate mosquitos! So sorry to hear about your husband, but glad he's on the mend. The 'deadline' for Chinese Coins is the loosest of things: please link your piece up any time you want. It is looking very promising; I love the idea of splitting the coins into those long triangles.

The best news is that your husband's on the mend. Totallly agree with Kaja. Very loose deadlines and neither of us has finished. Yours looks lovely

I've been neglecting all the blogs lately! I missed that you're husband's been fighting such an infection. I'm glad he's better.

Oh definitely not fun. Glad things are healing well. Hope you get lots of stitching time over the next week. Sounds like you definitely need to de-stress!

What an ordeal to go through. Your poor husband. It's good to hear things are better now. You'll have needed some good sewing therapy after going through that! Lovely hibiscus photos, they are such a flamboyant flower.

Good to see you post but so sorry to hear about your DH. Huge Oooohs and Aaaahs from Liverpool for him. Happy to hear that he is on the mend and I hope is 100% very soon.
The only thing worse for him would be if he was a quilter too!!!
Love your post, especially your experimental blocks. I adore KF fabric it really makes me so happy.
