Gypsy Wife and one hungry cat!

I had a change of mind over Gypsy Wife, I figured if I put her away in a
drawer it would be quite a while before she came out again!
So here she is, all stitched up, not perfect by any stretch of
the imagination but she is mine!
I can't get a good full on shot, to get this pic below I had to practically
re-arrange my sewing room.

Would I make another one - no. I would not.
I am tempted once again by Long Time Gone, I've studied the pattern
and think it would be easier than GW, need more time to ponder on that one but
it would use up a heck of a lot of the scraps in my boxes.

I have four projects on the go, I have quilts to quilt and a few
UFO's tucked away in the cupboard, but I find
I am tempted constantly to begin more quilts, especially
using my favourite fabrics - you know whose - KF and friends.

So, guess what I have just been doing

only cutting strips for another quilt.
This is an all strip quilt in a KF book, and at 3 and  1/2inches wide
a great change from 1"ones.
Just what I need right now.

Our little Tuxedo cat Leila is a real character, so very
different from the others we have
been privileged to have as part of our family.
Here she is telling me it's time for her dinner

that's one hungry girl!!!!

That's all for now, I am feeling positively euphoric
at having achieved a finished GW top and feel I need to sit
and have a cup of tea, a large glass of a good Shiraz would
suit me better but that wouldn't be a good mix with my medications.
Hope you're all having a good week, see you soon.

Maureen

Congratulations! GW looks splendid (and I think it was a good call to sew it together now). I love your colour scheme; it's a bit different from others I have seen and really helps to give it that 'Maureen' feel. Big strips seem like a good antidote to all that fiddly piecing!

Just pretend the liquid is the good stuff, and enjoy. Very bright and beautiful, and no doubt a huge relief to have it all done.

GW came out beautifully--and even better, it is done lol. It has been quite a project...hugs, Julierose

Even better sewn up. She is a lovely lady finely adorned with the brightest of jewels that ripple and cascade down her slender legs. Be proud to say you accomplished this. Great balance in the fabrics you used. Take a break and relax for a few before the next happens.

Your GW is stunningly beautiful! Such a happy riot of color! I had been really looking forward to seeing the whole thing together, so I'm glad you went ahead and did it! Woohoo!!!

That quilt is so amazing. It boggles my mind how you could even figure out which fabrics to use to make it work.

What a stunning quilt. And it could have so easily turned into colorful mush...but your use of value is spot on...a harder task given Kaffe's love of midrange values.

It's a lovely finish. I too am tempted by Long Time Gone, but have been trying to talk myself down from the level of crazy that would ensue. In other words, I'll be watching to see what you do. ;-) Meanwhile, enjoy this beauty, and that sassy cat.

Your GW looks great...but I am with you. I doubt I'll make another. I decided to make it 'my own' and the trouble started. I'm tempted though by My Small World...hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

Agree with all the other commenters that your Wife is just a gorgeous lady! I always love your color and fabric choices...so bright and lively. I hope you can have a sip of Shiraz, at least? If not, I'll drink a big glass for you!

Your new vibrant yellow strip project is intriguing, too...

A riot of Kaffe colour! So exciting to get it all together!

Congratulations on another finish, always a great feeling, do you think perhaps Leila is congratulating you too?

I know the feeling of wanting to start a new quilt when you haven't finished others. I now set aside he first 3 months of the year for finishes (the first time I did 6 months but I got the shakes after 4 months). The only thing I start is the RSC this year in January; everything else until April 1st were finishes.

Congratulations! It`s really gorgeous, Maureen. Job well done! I have to say, Long Time Gone looks like more work to me, not less. But if it speaks to you, then who cares?

I'm so glad you finished it, you must feel really pleased. It is almost more exciting to start new projects, I'm trying so hard not to start a quilt I want to make with my Denyse Schmidt fabrics.
Love little tuxedo cats, she certainly looks vocal.

I think you were right to go ahead and put it all together. Congratulations . . . and let that long time gone idea marinate for a while as you work on other projects. It will still be there if you really want to do it later. Funny cat photo!!

It's fantastic! Love it!
I'm always tempted to start new projects too... it's the creativity compulsion!

Lovely quilt. Congrats. I started the Long time gone quilt and am contemplating the Gypsy Wife. So far it has been going well. I need to finish one before starting the other.

Love your Gypsy Wife quilt! It's so colorful. It seems there is always someone at our house that wants to be fed (and we don't have any pets).

Your 'Gypsy Wife' is colorful and passionate, just what she's supposed to be!
Leila is a gorgeous tuxedo cat, and obviously good at communicating.
Have fun.

Well done on the top finish Maureen!! Woohoo, you'll be so pleased you didn't toss her into the cupboard and she's finally done! So very colourful and fun :-) Enjoy the larger sizes of your next project... I too have plenty sitting in the cupboard and should never consider starting a new project. Ever. Oh well.

Congratulations on your Gypsy Wife top! It looks beautiful, but also a daunting task. What gorgeous colors you used! Those Kaffe fabrics are just luscious, no wonder you're drawn to them!
Love that photo of Leila - what a character! She is beautiful. I love tuxie cats!
