Moving forward

My Golden Strips quilt only has 5 more strips to go up

this should be all sewn tomorrow.
I'm still getting the hang of my new computer and all the gadgets,
this photo was taken with my iPad and the light was not
very good, it's not coming up as rich a golden as it truly is.

You all know how much I love the Kaffe Fassett Collective fabrics,
one of the reason I enjoy working with strips from these guys
is the serendipity which can come from randomly sewing the strips, check out

Shoal on the left hand side with a strip of Pastel Brocade next to it,
I love the way we almost have a secondary pattern where the centre of the
Brocade flower meets up with the top of one of the fish - not cut and matched I have to say.

I had a new book arrive yesterday, I missed out on this at the first printing
and they went to a second print

and I'm looking forward to some practice over the next week.

Another project for next week is to gather my scraps from Gypsy Wife
and join in September with Ann  at Fret Not Yourself blog,
Ann thought it would be a good idea to make scrappy butterfly
blocks, I'm joining in with her 'cos there's
no shortage of scraps at my place!!

I'm just going to post a photo of  lovely camellia -  Guilio Nuccio -
it's a practice run for adding text with a new editing system,
things may not work out too well on this first trial.
Here goes

well I can just about see the text bottom right,
a little more work needed methinks!

All for now, enjoy the rest of your week
and happy quilting.

With your new machine quilting book you will be moving forward to quilting your GW quilt. Lovely camellia, some of our have been mashed brown from all the rain!

That will be such a deliciously sunny quilt, and will warm up any room. What do you use to watermark your photos?

Love your Golden strips and the way the fabrics are "reaching" out to each other.
Your new book looks interesting. When I teach machine quilting I put a lot of emphasis on how much you can do with your walking foot. People seem to think if they can't free motion quilt they have failed. So much you can do with your walking foot.

The quilt looks great! Marking the photos is important.....I change the word color for different photos. You will get the hang of it:)

I like the way the designs merge from one strip to the other too. How wide are your strips? I'm thinking working with 3.5" strips might be fun with some of the largest prints.

Just a lovely strip fest you've got going there! You really have the "eye" with KF fabrics for sure...hugs, Julierose

Yes, I like that secondary pattern too. If I look at it from different distances there's even more going on!
Your new book looks like a good read, Jaquie Gering has good insight.

I'm looking forward to hearing your reaction to the Walk book. Jacquie's work is so precise and lovely. I enjoyed taking her Craftsy class. Your sunny golden fabrics are gorgeous and playing so nicely together :)

You are so busy, Maureen. Gypsy is coming along beautifully. Large scale prints like Kaffe's work particularly well. My quilt shops haven't been carrying as many these last few years. I've got to get busy with the butterflies. I need to sort my scraps, too. Still. Thanks for the shout out.

I'm glad to see a closeup of the brocade fabric. I was thinking that I loved how that green went so well with the golden orange hues...and now I see the blue tucked inside. It ties the quilt together so well.

Even the name "Golden Strips" sounds luscious. I really how the dull purple brocade-y fabric sits in amongst all that gold and yellow too. The camellia is beautiful - much nicer than mine, which is not a good shade of pink at all.

The Golden Strips quilt is moving along. I love the golden glow of those fabrics. Hope you were able to get it all stitched this weekend.
