With limited time, due to the kitty, quilting has not been top priority over the past week.
My off-centre medallion now has a border on two sides and my original idea
was to set this square but then tried it on the diagonal,
first the square

On to the the diagonal
and this is the way I prefer to see it, reminds me of a Tree of Life block.
I had thought maybe some sort of small liberated block
where the two borders meet but went with a simple square.
This truly is liberated or AdHoc Improv because to make these
borders fit I just chopped bits off a few of the geese units,
you will see a difference in size here and there.
If I go with this there are four pretty large triangles to fill so better get
thinking pretty quick!
I turned to something simple by asking myself did I really want to
continue on with Scrap Vortex blocks and make a decent size quilt - short answer was NO,
the blocks are now being made into a large
pillow cover - oops I see I have goofed here with the
text.
Another early start this morning due to a four legged fur baby
crying for breakfast, being up and about early for this
sunrise was a pleasure.
Next on the agenda this week one green house block, two if possible, fingers crossed!

You have a great sense of color....now that you have Tallulah things can only be better!
Sometimes it is good to end a project, even though I hate small quilts. If your heart and mind aren't into working more on a project, it is good to pull the plug. I got all the pieces done for Grand Illusion, put it on the wall and just could not sew it together, hated it. I sent it to a quilt ministry that puts tops together to give away which is what I was going to do with it anyways. I just could not sew another stitch on it.
Oh, a kitty! I must have missed your previous posts... I will go back. :-) Love the liberated blocks - so colorful! I love seeing quilts evolve.
Yes, the improv block on a tilt is perfect. And the sunrise is lovely...but where are the new photos of Tallulah. Poor Debra had to go back to those old photos from several days earlier. Tsk. Tsk.

Even the first photo reminded me of Tree of Life. That's exactly what I thought of when I opened your post. It's wonderful. I've been intending to make a medallion quilt and these days am finding examples everywhere. Thanks for keeping this at the front of my squirrely brain.

It's interesting that you mentioned in the other post that you were tiring of working with the color of the month. I've been resisting many of the quilt alongs and this-and-thats of the month because it's hard for me to focus on anything except what captures me at the moment. I was feeling a bit selfish about that, so I'm glad to hear your reaction after a number of months of doing interesting things with the monthly colors.
On the other hand, sometimes I feel like I could use some focus and guidance! Oh, well.
