Once agin the post heading is self-explanatory and I'll begin
with kaleidoscopes.
My previous blocks using Mostly Manor did not sit happily
with me, not one bit, so they're consigned to a rejects bin presently.
I needed to start again and for reasons which will become clear
as you scroll down I pulled out batik jelly rolls
started with a purple and orange - didn't like it
so out came my KF collective strips, plus I made the wedges smaller and
this is more me but for some reason the green is so muddy on this photo,
I'll take another one in a few days when more blocks are on the wall.
Now - the main player in this post -
Meet Tallulah a Tuxedo cat
she hasn't attacked the table, it's a Georgian late 17th century piece
so seen better days.
She was found abandoned two weeks ago, very dirty and had to be trapped
by the vets in an old shed out the back of the clinic.
Short story, no one claimed her, she is extremely nervous, can't stand any
sudden noise and would only stay huddled in a makeshift cardboard
house the nurses made for her. They called me Monday to ask if I was
interested in giving this little kitty (about 12 weeks old) a home - need I say more!
She is still very nervous but fantastic with me, now lets me stroke her
but if John comes into the room she's off so I think she has
been treated badly and frightened. She can't even stand the noise of a door closing but is
getting better at dealing with it now.
getting better at dealing with it now.
here she is above in inquisitive mode and you can guess where the left paw is heading
and here she is in naughty mode having suddenly raced up the back of the chair,
up the batik quilt with lethal claws fastened firmly onto the chair!!
Expect the odd post on the antics of Tallulah - they named her in the vet clinic - great name
but rather a mouthful when you're trying to call her.
OK time for tea for kitty and tomorrow I hope we're more settled into a
routine and I can get back to my quilting, I am going to ask Sally T at http://theobjectsofdesign.blogspot.co.nz
for any tips, she is the expert with kitties! If you're not familiar with the antics
of her two babies go visit!!

Normal service will be resumed in a day or so - hopefully!

What an adorable kitten! You will have a fun time ahead with her. Quilting may go on hold.
Oh dear. More kitten blog distractions. Can't wait.
Welcome Tallulah!!! Cute but often big time wasters.....quilting? perhaps not!
What a cute little kitty. I'm sure that she will calm down soon with all the kindness you are giving her.
Oh she is adorable--full of antics--you could call her LULA for short!! Love how neatly kittens sit with their paws together--so cute..a little ball ofenergy...hugs, Julierose
Thanks for the kitten photos. My two are 19 and 7, so it has been a while since I have had a kitten. Thank for sharing the process of working on and making decisions on your new blocks.
What a little heart - melter! Do get in touch also with Lynne at The Patchery Menagerie -- she has successfully adopted a feral tuxedo kitten who is now Millie, the cat with her own blog AND her own business cards.
Your kitten is so cute! I'm sure you're so glad to have adopted her! I have 2 rescue cats and just love them! I liked all your kaleidoscope blocks. They all look nice to me!
Adorable! And yes, the young 'uns do have a boundless energy that needs considerable redirection. She reminds me of Soul-o over at Spirit Cloth.
I can see why you couldn't resist. She looks like she is settling down and making herself right at home. I much prefer your final kaleidoscope block.
Tallulah is absolutely adorable!!! What fun she will be for you! As you read on my blog, we have a new kitty too, although Rocky is not a kitten anymore, he still has the heart of one and gets into lots of mischief. But I haven't smiled or laughed so much since - well, I don't remember when! They are so worth it!
Our Rocky is still very nervous around my husband and often runs when he hears him coming, but he has begun to trust him more and even jumped into his lap the other night for some scritches. Your kitty will relax soon I'm sure when she realized she is in a safe place.
Oh my goodness! What a beauty! I love black and white cats - my favorite cat ever was that colorway. 8)
I'd end up calling her Tally for short. Which I expect would become Tallyho in short order.
(Love your kaleidoscopes, by the way. And never judge a kaleidoscope unless it's surrounded by a dozen other blocks...)
She is gorgeous, there is something about a black and white cat that looks so smart, over time she will relax and grow into her new home. I like Gayle's suggestion of Tally for short.
Tallulah looks precious. What adventures you will have. I predict she may learn to like John some day, too.
And I agree with Gayle, you can't tell about a kaleidoscope block until it's surrounded. Then it's easy to change triangles. Almost too easy. Enjoy!
Oh.. Tullulah! What a sweetheart! She reminds me of our tuxedo Suzi when she was a baby. Good luck with her. You are so sweet to give her a forever home!
