Sort of Improv Ad Hoc but definitely utility

I still haven't even begun to formulate a plan
for the AHIQ project of scale and time has almost run out!

However, four more blocks were added yesterday to Mardi Gras,
eighteen in total now, another eighteen to go! I need to make a concerted
effort to have these finished within the next two weeks.

For some reason I only took individual shots
of three of the blocks.

These are  only meet the criteria of Ad Hoc
in that strips are pulled out of the bin in an ad hoc manner, you can
see that not all the strips are even width and there is the odd
slip up in the placement in one block!

The above is the sum total of stitching over the past week.
I'm in the throes of sorting fabrics and trying to find a good
chunk of time at my desk to make a list of quilts to be finished, and in
order of importance.  Future projects need to be listed and this is the
difficult part, there are so many but not enough time!!

In the garden the Autumn colours are taking centre stage, in
addition to camellias at this time of year my hibiscus are in bloom,
I took these photos below this morning.

I have more but they can be saved for another post.

I'll end this post with a photo of my helper who decided I didn't need
to neatly fold any more fabrics for the basket, she would have
her afternoon nap in there, and she was not moving for anyone!

I'm off to visit
to catch up AHIQ posts.

Lovely blocks Maureen and the colours are gorgeous. Wow, what lovely hibiscus. We are too frosty down here to grow them well. Beautiful colours and more to come you say! Lovely to hear from you.

I like your handkerchief corner/housetop blocks, especially the way you used different fabrics on each side and changed the widths. This is a good plan to use up some scrap strings and your fabrics are too lovely to waste. Thanks for joining in with AHIQ again. Another exciting improv utility quilt.

Wow, those strips sing with delight, super fabrics you picked out at random. And a helper, why not, she says, in a deep purr??

Love the log cabin blocks....color and texture are so great. The challenge is the odd widths I guess.....would probably drive me crazy!

Beautifully colored blocks, Maureen...;)) time does fly by doesn't it--here it is thursday again...I am tying Venetzia --slowly as it is hard on the hands...
but a nice "no deadline" project...hugs, Julierose P.S. Lovely flowers--our daffodils are just starting to emerge...still pretty chilly here by the ocean...

I love log cabin blocks. Looking at your blocks. I really need to start purchasing bright vibrant prints. Just looking at your blocks with those colors makes me smile. When I see your extraordinary flowers in autumn, I understand where you get your inspiration. Wanda's colors in Exuberant Color quilts are a mystery to me since she lives in the Midwest and was still having snow last week. Keep the posts coming; they are a joy to read.

I like these housetop blocks a lot; the rich mix of colours and the way you are just pulling the fabrics and using different widths of strip.

Fun and cheerful blocks and your camellias and hibiscous are glowing in the morning light.
I agree with Monty Bear, 'I can understand where you get your inspiration.'
And what a sweet helper you have!

Aw, your kitty is so sweet! Mine never visits the sewing room while I'm in there. She just sneaks in at night and rumples things up. Love those flower photos! Each one is just an exquisite specimen. Best of luck getting your project list sorted out!

You really are a great fan of KF fabrics, you must have a wonderful collection. Our Hibiscus are giving us some wonderful colour too.

Oh yes, Leila knows her colours and appreciates that bright jewel tones show well with a touch of black.

Love your colorful ad hoc blocks. Good luck with the list making. Setting priorities is hard, hope that goes well too.

Your kitty is GORGEOUS with those colorful fabrics -- looks so much like our Miss Angel did. REALLY like those colorful blocks - and all the best with the list making. It's a challenge but yields such great results.

So much luscious color here - the flowers and the fabric! We're having another cold gray day here, so this is a true boost for the spirit. (I am so so so ready for spring!)
And it's wonderful to see Leila again - it seems like it's been forever!
