The Squirrel Club

If you look on my right hand sidebar you can see
a cute graphic headed The Squirrel Club and if
you click there you will be taken to a
post from
Julie
explaining how the Squirrel Club began and what
we're doing right now.

Cut to the chase, we're playing with our scraps and
sewing up a storm with a Scrap Vortex quilt inspired
by the design from
Amanda Jean
blogging at
https://crazymomquilts.blogspot.com

Progress to date:
sorting scraps and trimming into squares and rectangles

then stitching into pairs

and  making use of fussy cut pieces left over from my
Gypsy Wife quilt top.

I was too impatient to sew all the pairs I need before
creating a couple of blocks.
These are 12 and 1/2", they won't all be this size but
I've yet to finalise my setting plan.

I wrote in my last post about my 'serious quilting'
which was going to happen over the past week. Given
that we were told of the deaths of three people, two of whom
my husband had been friends with since school day, plus
bad news about kitty Leila - she was discovered to have
luxating patellas Grade 1
in both hind legs just after we had
given her a home -  we  learned last week
that in two years they have progressed
to Grade 3, therefore the sum of my serious
quilting can be seen in the photos in this post!

I'll finish up now, time to play nurse with a syringe full
of medicine for Leila.

Hope you're all enjoying your quilting,
see you in a few days.

Maureen

Oh, Maureen, your quilts look even better in times of bad reports. They are uplifting and positive. Keep going.

Your serious quilting is actually therapy quilting.....for when you are in need of a distraction to soothe the heart, mind and soul. And it sounds like this is exactly what is required for you. Hugs and prayers for you to get thru this time.
And the block looks wonderful!

More hugs and prayers winging your way...sorry for your losses and sad events...
I know sewing helps me to deal with life....Hang in there...;)))
Your Squirrel project is coming along beautifully...hugs, Julierose

That is going to be one gorgeous quilt! And what is not serious about it? Like some mentioned, it is therapeutic and uplifting. Making all the pieces of the puzzle 'fit' together in your vortex quilt can be likened to making sense of our sometimes not-so-friendly world. Hang in there!

So sorry to hear about Leila's decline - she is such a sweetie. Congrats on the progress with your scraps. I'm hoping to return to mine before the week is over. Unpacking has taken priority along with catching up on things that happened while I was away. Sending hugs to you!

Sounds like a lot on your plate. Hopefully all those glorious Kaffe scraps bring you some joy.

Oh, Maureen, I'm so sorry to hear of all your sad news! Poor Leila. Kitties give us so much love and just don't understand medicines. I'm sure she knows how much you care for her, though. My condolences to your husband on the loss of his long time friends. Please take gentle care of each other in your sorrow.

the final parting is with such sadness.Thinking of you both as you mourn the losses, and remember the happier years that have given you these wonderful friendships. The bright blocks add some joy, as you deal with Leila and her medicine and leg problems.

I’m so sorry to hear of your friends’ passing and that Leila is not well. Good thing you have scraps to play with in whatever time you can find.

Oh dear for poor Leila. And there must be something strange about time in New Zealand, because how could Leila already be two years old!

Oh, poor Leila. And poor you - you have so much to be dealing with. Sending virtual hugs.
May your sewing bring you healing and peace.

I'm a new follower, from Northern Indiana USA. The color you use in your quilts is just so bold and beautiful. You create happy with color.
