A finished flimsy and a new project

It's been some time!!!
Crutches back with the physio - at the moment anyway - and I'm back
at the machine but with a difference, I have my left foot on the pedal
not the right one,  this change took me a little while to get the co-ordination flowing
smoothly.
I've been doing a little sorting of projects.

First off I finished the seams on the 2 x 4 quilt top, comes under the heading
of a Squirrel Club project.

then a little more hand quilting on Paintbox,

this is the full shot below from (can't believe this)
2015!!!!!

I pulled out a WIP  - below - put away because I wasn't sure if I truly
wanted to continue with it, I do, that's down for next week.

 A wander in the garden

and then onto Scrap Vortex (below).
You may remember it was put aside because I was fast
losing the ability to focus my eyes stitching this.

Julie, who blogs at quiltdivajulie.blogspot.com/,
offered to adopt the blocks should I decide I truly didn't want
to continue on with it.
After thinking this over and pulling the said project out of
the parts box I decided to take drastic action

so now I have twenty three 3 and1/2" by 12 and 1/2" pieces,
a selection below

and I also have

a few strips of KF Aboriginal Dots
and one of his stripe fabrics.

I'm still stitching on this one but I'll have a photo
up later in the week.

Before I sign off a huge thank you for all the good wishes
sent my way. It's a toss up as to whether it's a
Medial Collateral Ligament tear or the Meniscus or something entirely
different, another knee specialist visit this week.

Bye for now and Happy Quilting

Maureen

When I had knee problems, the specialist decided after a scan ( it didn't show any tear or damage) that it was early arthritis and I would have pain all my life!!! The pain went, I challenged him on his diagnosis, as it meant, although I was still on crutches, all home help was stopped. All he said was " It looks like it wasn't arthritis after all"!!! Be firm, and ask every question you need to.
Hope you get it sorted out.
We move on Thursday!!! then 5 weeks of R&R in a caravan at a friend's home, till our next home. Your fabrics are beautiful. I packed the Bernina away, in its original box!!! What a sad moment.

I love your 2 x 4 rectangles quilt. It gives the same effect as a 16 patch but is more interesting.

Happy to see you are back at the machine and continuing to finish all your colorful projects. The 2x4 looks good joined but I love the WIP you pulled out and am glad you will proceed with it. The colors are fabulous it in. I think you figured out your dilemma with the vortex quilt and await what you will do now. More prayers for the knee and appt. with the specialist.

The 2 x 4 quilt is a stunning color play. All the quilt photos are mightly inspiring. The rose is gorgeous. We are in late gray fall here and I crave color. The trees have not even turned lovely colors- just dull green olive.
Praying for your strength and ability to keep going. Your work has such wonderful color qualities.

Knee pain - I agree with Nancy to keep asking questions until you feel you have the proper answers. Be persistent and know others of us have had to be as well. Now, about that WIP - it is lovely and I am curious where else on the blog you shared it? And your decision on the SVortex project is a good one. Loking forward to the next post.

my foot this past 8 months or so has been the same way for me and the doctor keeps changing his diagnosis - so frustrating and then he comes back to the original diagnosis of "just arthritis"!! Hope you knee is better soon. Love the pieces that you cut into rectangles it sure breaks it up and the eye can focus better on it I think.

So many exciting projects on the go. - all lovely! Very brave to chop up those Scrap Vortex blocks, but they do look good..... Chinese Coin Quilt on the horizon? Keep on improving on the health front.

So glad to see some of your lovely projects again, Maureen! And happy to know that you are back to doing some stitching, hooray! I'm very curious to see what you do with your vortex. I find I can only handle those very scrappy types of blocks up to about 8" square, then they need something soothing to surround them :)

I'm glad you're on the mend!
And a beautiful garden photo, thanks for sharing.
I like your paintbox blocks, they look like a garden of blooms.

Knee pain, oh that is a pain. I had a knee replacement done in 2006. Hoping yours is on the mend. I was wondering where and what you were up to...take care and prayers.

Well, whatever the cause of your knee problems, I'm glad that you are able to be back at the machine, albeit it left-footed. It's always good to see your beautiful, colourful projects and I can't wait to see what happens with your scrap vortex.

I love your squirrel. It's much prettier than the one in our garden. And what a great idea for scrap vortex. I finished my scrap vortex quilt top but have never liked it. Just kind of a mass of bright. Cutting it up and introducing some order may be help it a lot. I look forward to see how your quilt turns out.

I think you made the right decision with the drastic chop, although that's always a hard decision. Hope the crutches are still with the physio and not with you!

Hi Maureen,
I hope you are recovering well after visiting the knee specialist. I love all the different projects you have posted and I couldn't agree with you more on chopping up the blocks. Curious to see what you would do next.
