Mardi Gras is now a flimsy albeit considerably smaller than
the original which had 36 blocks.
The pattern is in the book
Sunday Morning Quilts
by Amanda Jean Nyberg and Cheryl Arkinson.
My last post showed 17 blocks up on my design wall, why I had decided
to make another 72" quilt right now I really don't know, I decided to come
to a stop after making another three blocks.
Size of 48" x 60", a reasonable size to use for throwing
over the legs on a cold day.
Not a quilt made of precisely cut strips, most are a little
wonky and pulled from my clean-up cut basket.
Even some of the blocks are wonky although they do measure 12" square.
In this photo the quilt looks darker at the bottom, it isn't, it's the time
of day when taking the shot.

Only four more 'sleeps' now until Christmas Day, so our two smallest
grandchildren tell me.
I won't post again until after Christmas, by which time I hope to have had
some time to myself to plan quilts for next year. Problem is
deciding which, so many ideas are buzzing around in my head.
I'm signing off on this post with a close-up of a
pink lily from my birthday bouquet earlier in the year
and wishing everyone a very
Happy Christmas
Maureen

Down here Mitre 10 has those gorgeous lilies in stock, I feel a need to have 2 at the front door. They are flowering or with huge buds. I love those blocks, colourful, and a good size. Fondest Greetings to you both, relax, hoping for some sunny days ( We have heavy rain right now) and you can look at fabric and patterns and books for inspiration.XXXXX

Merry, Happy Christmas to you and your family, Maureen! How fun that your grand kids are at that magical age where they are counting down the "sleeps" :)
Your fabrics make this a lovely top. It will be greatly loved and used when it's quilted.
Merry Christmas, Maureen. Enjoy the holidays with your family.
I hope your Christmas was merry and Happy New Year to you and your family Maureen!
I enjoy the bright happy colors you've used, so energizing.
And the lily close up is a wow, thanks for sharing.
Mardi Gras is a beautiful quilt, it is making me think I need to make another string quilt. I'm starting to make more of the smaller sized quilts now, so much easier to handle.
I love the quilt made out of all that beautiful bright fabric! Happy New Year to you and yours and Happy Sewing! from Iowa
I love how bright this quilt is! I am currently working on my Kaffe warm colors but I will have a whole bunch of blues and strings that need to be used up. I just might have to make something similar.
