The Cat Sat on The Mat and Christmas Greetings

Strange heading for a post on a quilting blog I know
but as I have nothing quilty to show on this last post of 2020
I'm improvising!

So, here's the cat sitting on the mat bought to use for her food and water bowls,
she's a messy eater, but she had other ideas

this is now her personal mat for taking a rest, and she is definitely
not a grumpy cat but this was the last mat in the store!

Baking for Christmas was to try and use up some of the
glut of courgette/zucchini from the garden with my favourite
loaves

Courgette, Walnut and Sultana

these are delicious, sliced and spread with a little butter.
They become a little firmer and are easier to slice after
a day or so in the cake tin.

I'm going to start a page for Recipes next year and this will be up there.

Next, just because I love them, are
Cranberry and Pear muffins

another recipe to be added next year.

And that's my little contribution to my blog for Christmas Eve 2020.
I have lots worked out for next year, regular blog posts is top of my list.

I'll end here by saying that I realise this Christmas will be a difficult
time for many of you but I do hope you're able to find
peace and joy amongst the mayhem and hope for much better in 2021.

Looking forward to catching up with you all in the New Year and
thank you for all your kind comments over the past year.

Happy Christmas

Maureen

Thank you for your Christmas wishes. I hope you and your husband and family all have a good time at Christmas. We’re having Christmas dinner in our own home, our daughter(who lives round the corner) will bring our meal in a cool box(to keep it warm!) and hopefully we’ll see each other on Zoom. Let’s hope for a more normal time next year.

Merry Christmas and a healthy and Happy New Year too!!
Meanwhile, we are still embroiled with "outgoing" and "incoming" here in our Administration...it's like an amoral, evil soap opera--only real time!!
Take care --hugs julierose

Merry Christmas, Maureen. I am afraid your card will be really late this year. We are due for a snowstorm and you are harvesting vegetables. I am not focusing on all the bad stuff, but on people, fabric and colors.

If you don't have quilting, cakes make a perfectly fine substitute in my book! A very happy Christmas to you, Maureen. Here's hoping 2021 is better all round.

Merry Christmas to you and your family - it is cold and sunny here. I like your idea of a recipes page. Those loaves of bread look delicious (we just had banana/cranberry bread - yummy).

Merry Christmas!! There is nothing better than the smell of home baking, other than getting to eat it all of course.

We all need to look forward, not back in this coming new year. We can't change the past but we can try to create a better future.

Merry Christmas to you. We are staying safely at home and hope you are, too. Watching the news daily and celebrating all the first responders receiving the vaccine! Our turn will come but it will be much later.

I like to use leftover fabric scraps to sew up unique little mats for cats since they seem to adore finding a mat to lie upon. We do not have a cat, but I have several friends who are cat lovers and I've donated some. It is a fun way to use up scraps and a relaxing, creative way to sew pieces up however the mood strikes. Have a blessed 2021! Linda

Interesting breads there... I've never eaten either of them. Thank you for Christmas wishes. It WAS very quiet here, but pleasant enough. Certainly, we will be grateful if we are able to travel to be with our children or grandchildren for Christmas 2021. Actually, there are LOTS of things many of us will be grateful for when this pandemic ends, even if it's many months from now.

Looking forward to reading your recipes when you start your Recipe page, both the loaf and muffins look delicious. Murphy has a mat has well, so far he is a very tidy eater.
