Progress at last

Two works in progress in the post today.

Green Diamonds is almost at the finish line, here's a photo taken
yesterday and only a few more diagonals to go now.

The left hand piece is stitched, the right hand side is still in two section with one more strip
ready for  joining, only a few more rows to go  and fingers crossed they will be completed today.
I have to say that I am disappointed in that even with the greatest care and a little starching some of the bias edges have stretched a little, I can live with that
but I wouldn't make another diamond quilt, certainly not with these small size ones.

On to the String Tulip Quilt Along and
my outer strip blocks are all finished

and the next step is to work on the centre.
As you can see above we have the word Tulips in the prompt from
Ann
you  can read the post from the first month of the QAL there.
Ann did say that we could change up a little, different flowers in the centre
not necessarily tulips so I'm going with the something a little different,
making a start on cutting out below.

There's also the cutting of fabrics for a new piece, more
about that in the next post but just a peek below

these have been in my stash for some time.

In the garden, even though we're in Autumn, we still have a few
blooms, Bergenia is one still flowering.

Hope you all had a Happy Easter!

Maureen

The ESS blocks have bias edges, too. Have a plan and be careful.
Your fabrics are always spectacular! I occasionally purchase fabric online but am usually disappointed. You always find wonderful stuff.
Great teaser for your center. Can't wait to see what you're doing. It will be super, I'm sure.

You have moved forward a lot on the sewing front this week, Maureen. I can understand you saying you wouldn’t make another diamond quilt using such small diamonds - you obviously have more patience than I have. The flower fabric for tulips is beautiful, already looks like a tulip as it is. The outer string blocks are lovely. Hope your Easter went well.

Oh,love the frame of the tulip string quilt. I have not had the time to do more than a couple of the blocks and I think you may have motivated me!
The flowers are all super. Daffodils are blooming here and tulip plants are getting bigger.

Those diagonal rows are such a pain to sew together! You're almost finished, though, and that must feel really good. Love the fussy cut Kaffe flowers :)

Hooray that you are doing something "you" for the center of your AHIQ quilt! I admire your patience with the green diamonds. We shall all need to share our flowers with you now as many of us are entering the blooming season . . .

I think those long rows of bias edges would be really hard to manage. I don't mind bias in small areas or short rows but as much as I like that quilt in all of Kaffe's books I'm not sure I will ever make it.

The Bergenia blooms are beautiful!!!!

I remember the first time I saw that diamond quilt. It was hanging at a 2002 quilt show in St. Marie-aux-Mines, France - made with Kaffe prints. Is yours made with Kaffe? I'm not a Kaffe aficionado, so I don't recognize his stuff. But I can sure appreciate the challenges of handling all those bias edges. Good for you! (Not me.) :-) Your Bergenia blooms are very pretty. Hmm. I've never heard of or seen those before either!
