Paintbox has been waiting patiently to have the hand quilting completed
since - believe it or not - 2015!!!
I quilted up the last block four days ago and had the binding on
two days ago.
I should have quilted in the wider border and only really noticed
the wrinkles when this photo was taken - I think I can very carefully
hand quilt following the straight line design of the machine quilting.
Hopefully it will work because I'm not taking off the binding.
The hand quilting is minimal, the centre 'petal' in each small square
is quilted in the ditch, difficult to see, and machine quilted good old
straight lines in the sashing.
The block design is Windmills from the beautiful

A lovely quilt, and "paintbox" is a great name for it Maureen. I'm sure you will be able to add a little more hand quilting, at your leisure - I often backtrack & add more.
Lovely finish on Paintbox; and that sunset is spectacular...hope all is well with you hugs, Julierose
What a lovely finish - I especially like that backing fabric (and we all know how amazing Sujata's book is). Beautiful nature scenes - getting very hot here (heat index over 100 for 3 days now) so seeing your cooler weather is reassuring. You take some gorgeous sunset photos!!!
What a pretty quilt, Maureen. Love the colours and of course the delicious Kaffe fabrics. The butterfly backing is gorgeous. Well done!
So happy to see a post from you!! Wonderful quilt and wonderful sunset xo
You can definitely add hand quilting to the border without taking off the binding. I have done that before with machine quilting and no problem. It is a very pretty quilt, my favorite color range.
Paintbox is aptly named. Such wonderful colors framed with a perfect print. I made one of that pattern with Merrimekko fabric, but it has been gone a long time as a comfort quilt. The sunset is spectacular. You have one of the best colorsenses I have ever seen.
Great to have another quilt finished Maureen. Beautiful fabrics!
No problem adding more hand quilting at this stage!
Beautiful quilt, beautiful sunset. Wise advice to stop everything and savor those sunsets.

Oh, that's absolutely luscious!
This is really pretty, Maureen, and the backing fabric is just perfect. The flaws are the bits you see that no one else would spot.
It's a lovely quilt. The colors are just so happy. And you can definitely add some hand quilting without having to take off the binding, done it many a time myself! lol I need to figure out how to add lettering to my pics as well. Just never seem to have the time!
What a gorgeous finish! I'll bet Paintbox is so soft and snuggly. It turned out so well, hooray! :)
Lovely finish Maureen. I love the colors. Thanks for sharing with Oh Scrap!
