Friday Favourites

I've been thinking of writing posts on a Friday
showing some of my favourite "things".
Perhaps a treasured piece of china from my cabinet, quilt,
fabric or flower, anything which is special to me.

I hope to write a few lines on the story of why
I post that particular item on my blog.

No time like the present so - first Friday Favourites post.

The book title says it all, my favourite colour, or perhaps I should say one
of my favourite colours.
This book is sub-titled
A Chef's Travels in Turkey,
mouth-watering recipes and photos of spice markets,
fruits and vegetables and stories of people met along
the way. I just fell in love with the dust cover.

My quilting bookcase is turquoise (photo rather grainy I know), I have a
small "washed sea glass" vase, a turquoise/verdigris green candle
holder - always loved these - and all (apart from the bookcase!) are sitting
on a quilt made around 1993. Alaska Dyework fabrics coloured
from rich purple through turquoise and jade green.
This is my hand quilted Trip Around The World - I was into Amish quilts
in a big way back then.

Oh, perhaps a quick photo of the last blooms on
one of the Wisterias - just because I love them.

We don't have Wisteria around here so I always love seeing photos of it.

One of my favourite colours too, including purple, blue and green. Lovely quilt, and what a super vase. I like your Friday blog.

Shades of turquoise always draw me in! And your arrangement is beautiful----shapes and positions...and makes a great photo. I like this post theme...keep it up!

Turquoise is the one color that seems to go with everything and hard to find. We have wisteria around here and I am always photographing it. I have painted it, but unable to figure out how to add it in a quilt. Hope you are feeling much better.

What a great idea. And you have such exquisite taste. Just one small criticism: there is nothing that goes better with turquoise than black, white and whiskers.

Love turquoise as well and I may just steal your idea of Friday Favorites!

I like how you say "one of my favourite colours.."! I love turquise too...and many other colours as well! And your visteria is gorgeous, our small bush has long finished :-(

I love everything in your "favourites" photo - could you show us a picture of the quilt in full. Love your wisteria - bet it smells divine too.

Me Too. Could we please see more of the quilt.

I think that's a great idea to share favorites on Friday. Turquoise is a big hit with me too, funny, I was just admiring a new fat-quarter turquoise batik I just bought at my local quilt shop.

Lovely idea. Turquoise is one of those colours it's just easy to love, I think. Your still life with all those pretty bits is very calming and easy on the eye (and I want that vase!)

Tuquoise is such a great colour! and it makes other colours look great too.

I think your Friday idea is a fun one. Love the wisteria. Just beautiful. I recently started a "walk with me" blog series where I plan to share occasionally about things I see on my walks.

I am just hoping that you have not been affected by the quakes there as I don't know the region you live in.
My sympathy goes to all the poor people who have suffered so badly and their families and I hope there are no more to come. Just had to write before I go off to the Lake District but you will all be in my thoughts.

Oooh, Maureen, how about a Friday Favourites link up? I bet lots of people would join you - some very positive comments on the idea here already! And I'd join in :) Your favourites last week were wonderful. Turquoise always reminds me of the sea in summer, how could I not love it. One of my favourite combinations is turquoise with emerald green, I used to use it a lot in paintings when I was a young'un many many many moons ago (I don't care to count them!). And I'll fight kaja for the vase...and your lovely quilt to go with it, haha!
