A little progress!

And it is truly only a little progress with the
Memory Quilt
from my post HERE
last month.

Hopping about like Long John Silver with his one crutch
makes it a teeny bit tricky to be on small step ladders
trying to pin a quilt on the design wall. However I did a
reasonable job, I think.

The very bottom row is just pinned on the wall, still needs to be sewn
to the pink strip but I decided a break was in order at that
point. Two side views, couldn't go far enough back to take
a full on photo. Just one more row to go at the bottom, a repeat of the first
row but different fabrics.

I'd forgotten there was a border to go on so more of the
KF  Dream fabric in Dark is on the way to me.

Coming out of my little studio I saw that John
had one of his old oil paint palettes upright on a shelf, I always
take a photo of these because of the stunning
mix of colour.

A scrap quilt in oils!

The garden is so overgrown right now, John is
carrying out an assault on the weeds and overgrown grass,
I'm hopping along taking photos.

The hydrangeas are just beginning to colour up so here's
a look at a couple of the flowers coming out on the
hydrangeas down the drive, the bushes are
huge this year. Sadly once the sun beats down in Summer
the blooms wilt like crazy, copious watering takes place then.

I'm sending wishes for a
Happy Thanksgiving
to all in the USA but there will be a tremendous
number of people for whom there will be no celebrations, only mourning,
following the horrific fires in California with loss of loved ones
and their homes.
I'm thinking particularly of the destruction of
Paradise right now. To see the sights we have on our
news here brings tears.

Back soon.
Maureen

What a beautiful quilt. And palette. (I'm wondering if you can point your camera at the easel so we can see what your husband is doing with such beautiful colors).

I love everything about your quilt-in-progress: the soft gentle colours, the narrow double bands of solids(so unusual) and all the different rows. Delightful. Sorry you're still hopping with a crutch, hope things improve soon. As you say, world wide news is heartbreaking, the Californian fires are devastating.

Gorgeous!!! Love the fabric combinations and the tone on tone bands of color were a great addition.

This memory quilt is just fabulous! You are coming along....forget trying to run a race, just move as you can. It is stunning so far. The palette should be hung up on a wall to enjoy and inspire you. But you stay off ladders....with one good leg we can take no chances.

Love your quilt--i think the narrow strips really add a whole lot to it. We have had our first snowfall already! I think it will be a long, snowy winter
this year...more sewing time, right? hugs, julierose

this will be a very sad winter for a lot of people from California I can not believe the horror out there and feel so badly for all those people - the government is not moving fast enough to help these people find shelter for sure.
On another note your quilt and the plants look terrific

Maureen,
The quilt is stunning. If I could borrow your brain for half an hour, I am sure my quilts would greatly improve. Holy cow, stay off of ladders. Thanks for sharing the flowers and quilt photos. We had snow and sleet last week and all my poor flowers are gone.

those fabrics are gorgeous, and as for a ladder??? Not sure what our next garden will have, maybe a blank canvas, like the palette, that would be a beautiful fabric, Have you ever thought of printing it onto silk or one of those others that go in a printer? Take care,XXX

Between the fires in Paradise, California and the hurricane in Mexico Beach, Florida there are two whole towns completely missing. Very sad, indeed, and testimony to the destructive power of Nature.

Your beautiful quilt is coming along nicely, if more slowly than you would want. Stay steady on the stepstool, my friend! :)

Love your 'memory' quilt! It's so different from the original, but so striking!

Beautiful work and contrast and more to come.
Be careful on the stepladder Maureen!
Yes, your husband's palette does look scrappy, there's
inspiration.

The palette is terrific! I would be tempted to steal it and hang it as artwork!

That quilt in progress is looking wonderful. I especially like that Kaffe fabric.

The deep, dark colors are so rich in your quilt. I rarely use those earthy colorways and yet they are beautiful. Love the paint palette too. I'd want to hang it on the wall as is.

You seem to be doing a great job, crutches notwithstanding!

I agree that the palette shot is gorgeous! And your quilt is coming along beautifully. Glad the crutches are not keeping you from doing things you love.

Your husband’s palette and your quilt include similar colors. His finished paintings must look beautiful with your quilts. And then these glorious colors extend into your yard. How lovely to be surrounded by so much rich color.
I’ve enjoyed watching you put this quilt together although hopping on ladders with a bad foot quite scares me. Stay safe.
