Slow Saturday

Actually I've had two slow Saturdays since my last post!
I've been fiddling about trying to decide what I want to make a
start on next, twice decided and then twice changed my mind.

I eventually made the decision to start on Green Diamonds  from
 Kaffe Fassett's
'Quilts in Ireland'
pictured here in an earlier post.

Here are the first few diagonal rows

and I don't know what's happened with the colour as it's much brighter than this!
I'm trying the new Blogger set up, maybe it's a problem here.
You might also pick up that I've begun a little un-stitching
on the LH side where the half diamonds come up to the full ones.
They don't seem to be fitting as they should.

After checking and re-checking it seems that the template in the book
may be slightly out, so I'll draw up another one and try again.
They're all cut on straight of grain so that's not the issue.

Planning Ahead

A pack of KF stripes bought a while ago  to make up a very simple
quilt for our eldest son, a free pattern from Free Spirit,
I'm not too sure about the lilac/peachy stripe, but it does look good in the
photo of the quilt.

Sorting out a heap of fabrics in a basket I pulled out
the fabrics below giving me ideas for another
quilt.

I have quite a few on my list of
'would like to make' so there's another decision to be made.

I'm finding a little time here and there hand quilting
my Paintbox small quilt, only a few more blocks to go now!

Unfortunately I didn't go with my usual brand of thread and the one
I chose pulls quite a lot going through the fabric and quilting is taking longer
than I had hoped.
Once again the colour is showing  darker than my original photo!

Let's hope the photo of the last rose in my garden is true to colour

and yes it is!!

Leaving you now with a quote I came across in one of my books.

Love the beings of the world equally and universally.
The Universe is One.

See you all soon

Maureen

I always enjoy seeing what you'll be doing next with your gorgeous Kaffe fabrics! You never disappoint me! I'm trying to get used to the new blogger too. Love the rose, I can almost smell it!!

I am struggling with thread too. Mine is metallic DMC floss, I like the effect, but the tangles and shredding I could do with out. It is a loud thread too, it makes a growl each time it goes through the fabric. Have you tried thread magic for your thread? it may give you a little less resistance on the pull through.

It's apparent you like bright colors! I do too, but not usually Kaffe, as I've never been much of a floral-lover. Still, your rose is absolutely gorgeous! I too am using the New Blogger, and don't find it user-friendly. Personally, because I prefer to read blog posts from the left to right, I've found that the "left justify" and "center justify" are very hidden away... behind the three dots on the far right. This different platform strikes me as a way for Google/Blogger to get more of us to stop using Blogger. The platform is SO inadequate, and Google doesn't want to devote more personnel to Blogger because it isn't profitable. Have you noticed that all questions and discussions about Blogger issues have been locked? Google isn't providing personnel to deal with problems. My biggest issue, since December 19, is being unable to comment on blog posts (including my own) from my computer. Even had Apple support look at my computer and all is operating fine on my side; it's Google that has the problem. Sigh. If I thought everyone who blogs would move to WordPress, I'd join in!

I think we all could use a dose of Kaffe fabrics to brighten our lives this year. Looking forward to seeing what you have planned for that gorgeous stack.

Great quote, Maureen! As hopeful as your fabrics are bright, and just as lovely :)

You have four lovely quilts in progress that reflect your love of color. The paintbox reminds me of some I made from Sujata's freehand cutting book. Have fun.
I almost always find that the colors are "off" inside. Outside the house they show true to life. I guess it's the artificial lights inside that messes things up.

Such a beautifully colourful selection of work, as always. There really is something special about the way Kaffe uses colour, isn't there? I especially love those stripes.

Every time you pull out those pretty Kaffe colors to play with my heart just goes pitty pat! You have the best eye!
And that rose is gorgeous! Enjoy it!

And more Kaffe colour, loving your diamonds! I'm bumbling my way around the new blogger format, it's ok. It's been a no-sew few weeks for me though, I'm busy downsizing my 94yr aunties home into one room, all her life boxed up, labelled and out the door, so sad.

Love your paintbox small quilt especially. Those colors!:) Would love to raid your stash totes some day. You have a fabulous collection of beautiful pieces. My pics seem to be a little less intense looking on the new Blogger too. I figure I actually need to invest in a real camera, but you know how it is. Fabric is much more enticing.:)
