Waiting In The Wings

A long four weeks and barely a quilt in sight

Look where we are now

into October and it's been four weeks since I actually wrote a post!!!

Quite a few things going on here  have held me up, one of them being this

which I had to begin wearing again occasionally,  especially when

cutting and as I was fussy cutting squares for Colorwash 360

it was necessary.
I'm waiting on a package of OOP Kaffe prints from
Wanda at Exuberantcolor and the brace will be worn again
as I cut those.

I have quilted my little Red is a Neutral piece and will post
a ;photo of this when I have the binding on.

The only other quilty project to show here is progress so far
on son's quilt

three more borders to go!

Oh the new book from Kaffe arrived

and it's  packed with colour, the photography is, as usual,
stunning and the location beautiful.

As the Northern Hemisphere are enjoying Autumn
we are having Spring weather and Spring blooms, the Wisteria
has been glorious

but is already begin to drop faded petals on the grass, the daisies are
springing up and I took this photo below a few days ago.

Another favourite shrub is just breaking out, the Viburnum
and the scent is out of this world as I walk past to the mail box.

Previewing this post I see I once again have double line spacing at the beginning
of the post but then it has reverted to normal!
I'm still finding my way around the new Blogger settings!!

Disappointment is with me presently because my posting
has really dropped off, as has my quilting sadly, but I've worked
out a schedule and I'll be back to normal in a few days!!

Stay Safe

Maureen

So sorry to hear that you are wearing your brace again. The new Kaffe book looks interesting. I have visited Burano and it’s a stunning place so I bet those photos are wonderful. Your son’s quilt is coming on beautifully.

Go easy on the cutting! I too find I need to wear a wrist brace if I do too much cutting in one go. Or for that matter FMQ, where I find it difficult to stop! But it's that "just one more minute" that pushes the nerves over the edge.
I love the photos of your garden, especially the wonderful display of Wisteria.

Oh the perils of quilting! I have a special government I wear when cutting that helps tremendously. I only wear my wrist brace occasionally at night. Love your spring pics!

I my comment was supposed to say: “I wear a special glove “ 🤣

Another health challenge to deal with. And that makes cutting so much worse, but just a little at a time rather than a marathon spree of cutting is also a help. I am sure you are enjoying the colorwash class and all those wonderful KF fabrics you have. Looking forward to seeing what develops with it.

I hope that you are able to cut up those incoming fabrics without hurting yourself. [I totally "get" this problem as I have many days when I cannot even pick up a rotary cutter...and it's very frustrating]
I like how your son's quilt is coming together--really nice work...

Hopefully, the weather around you will put a "spring" into your step! Lovely photos!

I love seeing your signs of spring as we approach the time of a killing frost that will flatten our vegetation.

I hope the package gets to you soon!!

I know about Carpel tunnel syndrome. When it gets aching, I wear both hand braces to bed each night. Works very well to settle aching wrists.

It's always good to hear from you, no matter how long the wait! The stripes quilt is looking very handsome. I hope your fabric and relief for your wrist comes soon :)

One seam and one rotary cut at a time. Gentle and steady. Have you investigated the ergonomic rotary cutters? They were a lifesaver for me (I use the Martelli right handed one).

Glad to see you post again! Periodically I have to put a brace on. Mostly due to arthritis. Here in California we are in autumn I think. It's hard to tell with the weather still in the 80s.
Be safe and stay well.
xx, Carol

I'm always so happy to see your posts! Love the flowers - especially that wisteria!
I've done time in a wrist brace, too, so I can identify with your frustration. I hope it eases up soon!

Quilting is hazardous to our health. I always get sore neck and shoulders from cutting and sewing too much. Hope you start feeling better soon. Lots of pretty in your garden. I'm not too keen on the blogger either, I find it a little hard compared to the old system too.

I'm sorry you have to wear a brace but glad it helps improve your hand function. I've worn one at intervals for years, too.
Medallion quilts are always a favorite so of course, your stripe version attracts my attention. Simply stunning. It's amazing what we can do with thoughtful fabric selection, isn't it.
Continue to get better and enjoy Spring.

Your sons quilt is so interesting looking! Great use of the vibrant stripes. I'm always impressed by how different fabric can present just based on the cutting and how it connects with other fabrics! Take care with your wrist and get better!
