I seem to have really lost the plot with my blogging at the moment due to so many things!
You may have read Wanda's blogs over past days with mention of the Fonthill quilt, we're both working on this Kaffe design. Wanda is really progressing, I am way behind! This is a photo from the book Passionate Patchwork, there are two photos in the book of this particular one below, one showing in a slightly different shade , there is also a paler version shown.
It is the design which attracted me but after many attempts to try and go with the flow of the the colouring here I had to admit defeat! I'm going with a completely different take on the colour but sticking strictly to the pattern. Here I'm just beginning to test out different fabrics on the design wall, the stripe along with the purple Scarabs are the two constants throughout. Try outs for the small triangles in the centre portion are now being auditioned.
Holdups in my blogging and reading blog have once again been due to unfortunate event.
There were two cases of bad news (health) concerning very long time friends and also sadness over a situation with one of our grand-daughters, also health related. I have another rotator cuff tendon possibly torn - scan tomorrow - but the very saddest blow came last week, my brother-in-law - husband's brother just three years younger in age than John, passed peacefully away in his sleep in the early hours of Thursday last week. This has just knocked us sideways - the family are still in England so communication is by 'phone or email. Many of you will no doubt have experienced the same sad happening. A quilt will be on the cards for my sister-in-law later in the year.
Whilst trying to process all the above I've been finding solace in the last flowers in the garden, watching the sunrises and sunsets and moon gazing - yes, I love watching for the moon each night.
Also a lovely flowered metre of fabric arrived in the mail.
That's it from me for the moment, hopefully I can put together another blog before I go off to hospital next week for my change of pacemaker, meantime apologies again for not being up to date with reading your posts.

My sincere condolences for your loss and sad family news...I hope you can find some solace in that lovely new fabric that arrived in the mail. I know looking at beautiful fabrics tends to calm my anxiousness...

I like your choices so far on your take on the Fonthill quilt re-make; that is quite a challenging quilt to pull together, I think. I have been watching Wanda's progress on this too. Fascinating seeing everyone's "takes" on it...;))

Sending all positive wishes - for your pacemaker procedure and upcoming rotator scan, for your sister-in-law and your husband, and for you. I am a firm believer in the power of Mother Nature whether it is sun, moon, or flowers . . . I'm glad you are soaking in their goodness and beauty. And I LOVE the purples you've chosen for your version of Fonthill! Blog when you can - no stress on that front.
I hope your shoulder scan turns out to be good news and not a tear. I'll be waiting to hear details on your pacemaker change out. I'm getting closer to that too but hope I have one more year of battery life.
I'll be slowing up on my Fonthill for the rest of this week. I need to get my stash moving done and some order in the studio.
Maureen, you have had a run of bad news, yet you show beautiful things- fabric cut out, new fabric, flowers. I have seen way too much in sudden deaths and super quick ill health to be accepting. Just take it a day at a time focusing on the good and beautiful even if everything else is ashes. Praying for your pacemaker surgery outcome.
Love the quilt you are trying to work on. Such an interesting quilt. And so very sorry for the sad news. Life is hard sometimes isn't it. Best wishes for your continued health and hope things go well.
My condolences to you and your family on the passing of your brother in law. It is sad to realize you will no longer be able to chat with him and one less person remembers your shared past.

Maureen, so much sad news at once. It does make it hard to focus and move forward when so many things are going wrong. My condolences to you, your husband and the rest of the family. My husband died suddenly in Oct, 2021. I know how traumatic a sudden death can be. Good luck with your shoulder and pace maker procedures. I send healing wishes to you.

Oh my goodness - I feel like you are really get it piled on. That is a lot of things/emotions to deal with. My heart goes out to you, and my prayers for your family. I hope the recovery on your pacemaker change is minimal and you are feeling good in no time. Very sweet idea to make your SIL a quilt. Hugs to you!!!
