joining other quilters invited by Sujata Shah to take part part in her
Unconventional and Unexpected Quilt Along

and I chose the one below.
"Cross"/Four Patch
Not wanting to make a straight copy of this beautiful quilt I began my own take on it
using quite different fabrics to the ones in the photo above, the first six were on my blog
HERE
and then life intervened, as it does, and no further blocks were made until
two days ago.
These are my latest ones, and I'm loving them!
I prefer these to my original blocks so I'll be continuing on
using a mix of lots of Kaffe Fassett Collective
and Anna Maria Horner fabrics plus a few others.
So many new designers are coming out with super bold and colourful
fabric lines now.
I have been planning future projects so not much playing with fabrics
unfortunately. I have pulled my Tula Pink quilt
out of the drawer
and hope to make a start on the binding tomorrow.
We're coming to the official end of Winter here in New Zealand,
I'm definitely looking forward to Spring and the colour in the garden,
but we do have some beautiful flowering hibiscus still blooming
and brightening up a rainy day.

Love the golden Hibiscus, and the blocks are so lovely, I like your way with every one.
Your fabrics are gorgeous. Such beautiful colours and designs. You certainly have an eye for pairing the colours and fabrics. What a stunning quilt you are creating.
Oh, Maureen, these blocks are just so beautiful! I love just looking at them. I can't imagine the impact of a whole quilt of them! Hope you can keep going without any health impediment. Your fabric choices are just so perfect.
I really like your "take" on that quilt--I have cut some low volume fabrics for another quilt in that book--my own version too...what a wonderful resource that volume is...
We are having some lovely coolish weather here and low humidity--at least for a few days...so nice.

Love the new blocks and the fabrics are beautiful. Such a wonderful eye you have foir putting things together. You are making this quilt your own with the changes. Just great.....and glad to see a post from you.

Great Four Patch progress, Maureen.
Cross/Four Patch is a fun design with some of the blocks appearing to recede and others appearing 'out front.'
Almost spring for you? Yes, beautiful yellow hibiscus, is that a winter or spring flower for you?
Your winters must be milder than ours that you still have blooms.
You are beautifully transposing this block into your own fabrics. What a great job.
