Midnight At The Oasis 2

A couple of days late here I am with my MATO post

Because of issues with arthritis and a flare of my auto-immune issues my hands were a disaster  so hand applique on an orange peel border was out. I didn't feel up to even using machine applique on all the small petals so I came up with flying geese instead!

Unlike the pattern there is not a lot of contrast between the centre medallion and first border but that's the way I wanted it, more of a moody look. Next problem is the upcoming border with the applique vine - again that is out presently for me so I shall have to get busy thinking of a substitute to use instead that fits with everything else.

Beautiful work being done on the QAL (thanks to Sharon and Jess)  click on their names or just click on the Midnight At The Oasis button on the side bar and have a look at the link-up.

I have my usual blog to write now so better get to it
Hope you're all enjoying a happy weekend
Maureen

I like it with the flying geese and I love the colors! I sympathize with your arthritis. It thwarts a few of my projects oo although mine is osteo arthritis. I have auto immune issues though. Adrenal insufficiency and thyroid. It puts a damper on the creativity sometimes.

Sorry to hear your hands are making it difficult for you. If it is any consolation, swapping the orange peel for geese is inspired. It looks brilliant! I love it.I am making MATO (hope to link up tomorrow) and if I decide to make it bigger to fit on a queen bed. I might just try a round of geese. Thanks for the inspiration

I like this border, too. I do love this MATO quilt...BUT no new quilts til I finish up( tote that barge, lift that bale, etc)
I really like your colors--just so vibrant, Maureen. sorry about your ills; I have arthritis issues in my fingers and shoulders, too, so I totally empathize--some days you just can't use those fingers to applique...feel better, hugs, Julierose

I love your adjusted MATO! Can't wait to see your take on the next border! One day I may just have to copy your approach since applique isn't in my bag of tricks... Hope you and your hands are feeling better - sending good wishes to you!
