A sad week indeed and the end of an era.
We had to make our last visit to the vet on Monday morning with
Seamus, our old Irish Setter and the last of the seven
we have had as family members over the past 45 years.
Saturday last week his hind legs gave out on him so we knew
this was the end. He reached the grand old age of 13 years - good for
a Setter.

Here he is below with his sister Mollie when they were just
a few years old, we lost her due to cancer
a few years old, we lost her due to cancer
4 years ago. They were waiting for John to come out of the water
after his swim.

And I just have to have this one in the post, his favourite place of all,
on the knee of his best pal!

I did pull myself together and made an orange teapot

Oh I am so sorry to hear of your loss--hope you will be comforted with all your wonderful memories and the good home you gave your baby...P.S. love that teapot hugs, Julierose
I am so so sorry. This lost must be so hard being the last of a long lifetime of love. May your memories sustain you. Sounds like it was a long life of love with you.
I'm so sorry Maureen! Their loss is heartbreaking, but our lives are so much richer because they were in it.
I'm so sorry to hear about Seamus, I know how our four-legged kids become such a huge part of our lives. What wonderful memories you must have!
Losing a dear pet is like the loss of a child. Seamus gave you unconditional love with his whole being like a child.
So sorry to hear about your beloved family member. I hope that fabric and thread will help keep your hands busy while your heart mends.
What a gorgeous fellow he was -- and I'm glad you have those photos (and hopefully others) to keep close. Sending hugs of understanding.
LOVE your teapots, BTW.
A loss like no other, and dear Seamus, he will have given and received so much love during his life with you. I am sure Mollie was waiting for him,and they are together again. Words fail me, but I send heartfelt thoughts of love and care, a truly sad time. Maybe the teapot will be a special one with his name on it. Hugs.
Very sad news, Maureen, losing a loved family member is never easy. It seems like you have wonderful memories of Seamus, I hope they keep you going. Very cute teapot :-)
I'm so sorry for the loss of your beautiful dog, what a fine chap he looks.
What a wonderful life you shared with Seamus. I'm so sorry that you have lost such a beloved friend and majestic dog. My thoughts are with you...
Sorry to you'll heal with another puppy! We had to say goodbye to our BJ several years ago who was a big husky/newfounland male and he was missed for sure. But someone poisoned him and so the loss was very hard to reconcile with who would do such an awful thing.
Three years ago we posted on Kijiji that we were looking for a female shepard/lab cross and so Rusty came into our lives to fill the void and she has done so with spades.
I'm so sorry to hear about Seamus passing. How many wonderful memories you have of him, his sister, and your five other setters.
Sorry about your loss of Seamus. He looks like he lived a very full life with his best bud (who both look very unhappy with the camera).
Very cute teapot.
So sorry about Seamus.....love to you all xx
I'm Maureen, I'm sorry about your setter Seamus. They are lovely dogs. I have two friends who have/had them.
Love the teapot!
The worst thing about dogs is their shorter life span. My condolences on your recent loss. Lovely little tea pot though (of course!).
So sorry for the loss of your sweet dog. Kind regards.
I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. He was a beautiful dog.
Love your sweet little tea pot.
